Après Ski in Winter Park
There are two main centres of activity in Winter Park: the mountain village at the base of the ski area and the original town of Winter Park, two miles down the road.
As expected there is the usual highly efficient, free shuttle service connecting the two. A post-skiing libation at the Kickapoo Tavern in the mountain village is most definitely the order of the day regardless of where you are staying. The action at the Kickapoo moves out onto the large terrace during the spring season but at any time of year it's an atmospheric après-ski spot.
Downtown offers the best choice of restaurants and bars in which to spend the later hours of the evening. Hernandez has wonderful stonebaked pizza, served round a huge central fireplace, Fontenot's has a spicy Cajun menu and a laid-back locals feel.
