More Snow. More Steeps. Less People. Gareth Pilkington, Ski Sales Manager

"Snowbird is a very special place and lies near the top of the list of best places I've ever skied. The tram lifts you high up from the base area to some of the most incredible terrain on the planet. The average annual snowfall stats tell a very happy tale and a powder day here will live long in the memory. I love the Cliff Lodge hotel, a striking chunk of Bauhaus style architecture set hard against the natural beauty of the surrounding mountains."

Snowbird Ski Holidays

Snowbird has the biggest snow record of any of our featured resorts in North America with a historic annual snowfall of close to 42ft per winter. That one fact alone should make any serious skier or rider pack their bags and travel to Snowbird.

The resort is pressed between the steep jagged mountains of Little Cottonwood Canyon - just 45 minutes from Salt Lake City airport. It is by far the most photogenic of the North American resorts - the dramatic modernist style of the buildings stands boldly against the backdrop of the rugged alpine scenery and the resort projects an air of sixties 'Bond' glamour.

With a monster 3,240ft vertical and 2500+ acres of fall-line focused terrain firmly aimed towards the expert and advanced audience in Snowbird, skiers can now enjoy another 2500+ acres of legendary downhill terrain at interlinked Alta on one combined lift ticket. The combined Snowbird-Alta experience is out of this world!

Skiing in Snowbird

Snowbird has a reputation of mythical proportions. It offers unparalleled skiing for advanced skiers, but it's also a fantastic place for enthusiastic intermediates with a taste for a steeper pitch and exquisite snow conditions. The Aerial Tram - the signature lift at Snowbird - rises for a staggering 2,900 feet to Hidden Peak, which is about as much vertical as you can hope to get without heli-support. From here you have a front face filled with predominantly fall-line black and double black diamond bruisers – this is big mountain skiing with virtually every type and style of terrain to suit the expert shredder.

And then there’s over the back of the mountain to the huge powder amphitheatre that is Mineral Basin. From here it’s possible for skiers to link with neighbouring powder capital Alta (no snowboarding allowed here), where you'll find charm, character and a frontier feel in possibly one of the best ski areas in the States. We think Alta's a magical place with great snow and outstanding skiing. The total combined terrain of these two great mountains is 5,000 skiable (but not boardable!) acres.
