Copper Ski Holidays
Copper Mountain offers world-class skiing in an outstanding setting in the heart of Colorado Ski Country. Sitting at 9,712 feet, Copper is one of Colorado’s highest resorts and has both an outstanding snow record and a long season, making it a great choice for pre-Christmas and Easter holiday skiing. Copper offers a huge ski area featuring diverse terrain above and below the tree-line. With three mountains, four alpine bowls, 142 trails and a a chunky 2,738ft vertical it has something for every skill level in abundance. And the best thing is that all roads lead to Copper Village!
The accommodation in Copper is all slopeside or ski-i/ski-out, with a great range of condos available across three separate lively village bases - East, Centre and West Villages. Copper’s resort base has had a complete overhaul in recent years to create a superbly designed resort centre with a myriad of attractions to enjoy around the compact pedestrian village. Shops, restaurants, cafes and bars are to be found around every corner, and one of the resort’s great strengths is its Athletic Centre with excellent sports facilities and a gigantic ball pool for the kids.
On that family vein, Copper’s childcare facility will look after and entertain your children during the evening, free of charge, so long as parents spend just $30 or more in the resort. Kids have plenty to do including the tubing hill, interactive play at Critterland and for the adventurous there's Woodward Barn, an indoor playground with artificial jumps into foam pits!
Skiing in Copper
Copper has great runs for all abilities, with an attractive mix of wooded, gladed and open slopes. The mountain naturally divides itself into areas suitable for beginners, intermediates and beginners. As a rule of thumb, as you look at the mountain, the easiest runs are facing West and it gets progressively steeper the further East you go.
For beginners there is an excellent learning area at Union Creek with a wide array of green slopes on which to progress. The children’s ski school is first class, and it has an excellent dedicated Family Ski Zone where all family members can ski together in complete safety.
With amazing top to bottom cruising runs suitable for intermediates and above, there is no shortage of choice of terrain to explore. Stick to the West for gentle rolling terrrain down through the trees, or head to the central part of the mountain to mix it up a little. Here you'll find cruisers, bumps, glades and straight line slots. Head East for the best of the badass terrain - it's steeper, tighter and definitely gnarlier over here. Experts also get to play in the four alpine bowls at the top of the mountain at over 12,000ft - the views of the surrounding Rockies are simply stunning and you get to play in the awesome Copper Bowl and Tucker Mountain, accessed by free snowcat!
