About Japan

Skiing in Japan is unlike skiing anywhere else in the world. The combination of huge snowfall, beautiful scenery and a rich, diverse culture will make your ski holiday to Japan unforgettable.

When To Go

The ski season in Hokkaido runs from mid November to mid April, with the best conditions often being found in January & February. The powder in Japan is some of the lightest, driest around and if you’re looking to ski waist deep powder every day and even at night, then a ski holiday to Japan is a must!

How To Get There

To reach the ski resorts in Hokkaido, you can take a direct flight to Tokyo and then a short 1½ hour flight to Sapporo/ New Chitose airport. From there we can offer a transfer which is approximately a 2½ hour journey to Niseko. For the more adventurous we can offer a train journey from Tokyo to Niseko! Japanese Twin Centre Holidays

Niseko and Rusutsu are located approximately 45 minutes apart which makes for a perfect twin centre ski holiday, or even if you just want to do a day trip. Niseko or Rusutsu to Furano is just over a 4 hour drive, and we can arrange transport between all three resorts if you want to do a Japanese ski tour. Just ask one of the reservations team for more information.

City Stopovers

Many Ski Independence clients combine skiing with a stopover in one of Japan’s large cities before or at the end of their trip, allowing you to experience the hustle and bustle of Japanese city life. This is easily done and we can book a wide range of city centre hotels in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka, just ask for more details. We sell a wide variety of excursions and trips within Japan including Bullet train journeys, the temples of Kyoto, and a day trip to view the snow monkeys - it all adds to the unique culture of Japan.
