Activities in Val Thorens
There is as much available off the slopes as on the slopes in Val Thorens, making it an ideal choice for families or groups who are looking for lots of activities as well as for any parties with non-skiers.
If you're still looking for some outdoor thrills when you're done skiing then you can have a go at snowmobiling, ice driving or to get breathtaking views of the Three Valleys, then why not take to the skies with a paragliding trip?
Or how about taking a trip down the longest toboggan run in France - a superb 6km descent! Please note that this toboggan run is only suitable for children aged 5 and above if sharing a sled with an adult - children aged 10 and over (and over 1.25m tall) can use a sled of their own (only authorised SETAM sleds are allowed on this toboggan run though).
For younger kids, there are other toboggan runs in the centre of the resort near Place Caron, including a free "baby fun" one for very young children (2 years+) and a 250m long one for 6-10 year olds with banked turns and even a magic carpet to take you back up to the top so you can save your energy!
For those with a head for heights and a need for speed, a go on La Tyrolienne zip line is a must: from the top of the Bouchet chairlift at an altitude of 3230m, strap your skis to your back and descend the 1300m long wire. At 250m above the piste at its highest point and maximum speeds of 105 km/h this certainly is not for the faint hearted!
For those who prefer to keep their feet on solid ground, head to the centre of Val Thorens where you will find a fantastic sports centre where you can relax and enjoy a Turkish bath, hot tub or swim. There's also a kids play area with bouncy castle and soft play. The resort also has a cinema which shows English films, a bowling alley, driving simulators and even an escape box!
For some gentle activities, you can also try yoga classes, snowshoeing, husky sledding or segway rides.
