Gateway to Paradiski Karen Anderson, Ski Specialist

"In my opinion Vallandry must have one of the most perfect locations in the Alps, it truly has doorstep skiing! Intermediates are extremely well catered for here with a huge variety of runs from smooth cruising blues to challenging reds. The trees above Vallandry are great fun especially when it's chucking it down with snow and you can't see your way around the pistes."

Activities in Peisey-Vallandry

Nordic activities are what Peisey-Vallandry is especially famous for and the resort has excellent facilities including a reception centre where lessons can be arranged and rentals organised for all ability levels from complete novice up. There is also a shooting range nearby used for biathlon, should you wish to have a 'taster session' for this sport, which involves cross country skiing then trying to lower your heart beat enough to be able to hold the rifle steady and shoot a distant tiny target! It's more fun than it sounds...

Other outdoor options include dog sledding, ice climbing, snowshoeing, winter hiking on cleared trails or ski joering - being towed (gently) behind a pony while you're wearing your skis.  Paragliding above is another possibility and you can take a guided village tour or visit a local farm (organised by the tourist office).

There's also a cinema, library and museum.

You can of course make the short trip to the other Paradiski resorts of la Plagne or Les Arcs to try activities offered there, including the famous Olympic bobsleigh run at La Plagne which can be descended in a self-steering raft at slightly slower velocity (and lower cost) than jumping on the back of a professionally driven proper 'taxi bob' .
