High Altitude Family Favourite Michael Bennett, Managing Director

"Ski-in/ski-out Avoriaz is the ideal resort for families. The facilities there are great, the views are stunning and the short transfer from Geneva make it my first choice for a family holiday. "

Activities in Avoriaz

Bowling

Avoriaz has its very own bowling alley, a popular choice for a bit of après-ski entertainment. Located on Place des Dromonts, "Le Studio 9"  is open from 2pm every day until the small hours. As well as bowling there is also snooker, video games, table football, pinball and a dancing machine.

Aquariaz

Aquariaz is an exciting slopeside indoor water park that re-opened recently in Avoriaz. Unique in the Alps and built thanks to a partnership with sister company Centre Parcs, this giant tropical dome is both surreal and superbly located and has great swimming and spa facilities as well as fun water sports features such as high-speed water slides.

Sports Centre

If you've got energy after a day on the slopes, or just fancy a break from skiing then head to the Salle Altiform on Route des Rennes for a work out. This sport centre offers a wide range of fitness classes as well as the 'Espace Balneo' (spa suite) with sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi.  Opening Times: 2pm-8.30pm Sunday to Friday, 5pm-8pm on Saturday. Access is restricted to those aged 15 years and over.

Cinema

There is a 2 screen cinema in Avoriaz which shows French and international films.

Cross Country Skiing

If you want to have a go at cross country skiing, head off for the 216km of tranquil cross country trails that criss cross the Portes du Soleil - 45km of them in Avoriaz alone! There are 4 cross country areas generally accessible from Avoriaz and Morzine: the Manche Valley with 25km of challenging circuits, the Morzine-Avoriaz at Parc Naturel des Crêtes de Zorre with up to 47km for all levels, Lake Montriond with 10km of Canadian-style runs and the Pléney - Chavannes sector with 8.5km of forest runs. Just outside the valley you can also go to Les Contamines, Les Saisies and Val Ferret (in Italy, via the Mont Blanc Tunnel).

Ski Joering

Fancy being towed up the slopes behind a horse ? Then have a try at ski joering, the original drag-lift. Ski joering is a great activity for families as it can be tailored to all abilities and ages.
