Aspen Ski Holiday Guide | Aspen Hotels and Aspen Condos

"The best thing about Aspen is that there is a mountain to suit every mood! If you're looking for some cruising pistes then head to Snowmass or if you feel like a hike to get the day started (and who doesn't!!??) then Highlands Bowl on Highlands is just the ticket! A visit to Sam's Smokehouse on Snowmass and Cloud 9 on Highlands are a must for any visit - the food is to die for!" Philli, Marketing.

Many of the staff here at Ski Independence will tell you that Aspen Snowmass is the World's best ski resort - high praise indeed when you consider they've visited most of the competition!

There are four ski mountains to explore on the same lift ticket - Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass, all with their own unique character. The best ski hotels and condos are located in the town of Aspen or at Snowmass Village where a brand new base area was completed in 2009.

Aspen has a reputation for high-end glamour and glitz (and it's there in spades if you want it) but you don't have to look far to discover a relaxed, sometimes bohemian, local's town with heaps of character and charm.

Skiing in Aspen Snowmass

Aspen Highlands, celebrating over 50 years as the locals' favourite, boasts breathtaking vistas of the surrounding Maroon Bells and an abundance of expert terrain and groomed cruisers. Hike to the 3,777 metre summit of Highland Bowl for Colorado's ultimate in-bounds backcountry rush. With the addition of the Deep Temerity lift and over 96 hectares over the last three seasons, Aspen Snowmass are proud to offer some of the most challenging big mountain terrain in North America.

Snowmass is the largest of the four Aspen Mountains and has a massive amount of groomed runs, glades, steeps and even hikes to play with. The Snowmass lift system is second to none and the new Snowmass base area added in 2009 is a superb new addition to the feel of the mountain. Snowmass is the perfect place for a family ski holiday.

Aspen Mountain - and its famous black-diamond terrain - has kept the town of Aspen on the map since 1947, serving up glades, bumps & steeps for anyone who dares to step off the lift.

Buttermilk is famous as the home of the ESPN Winter X Games through 2012 and voted #1 by Transworld Snowboarding Magazine Reader's Poll for best pipe. Buttermilk built its 50-year legacy on wide-open and gently rolling trails that cater to beginners and families. Keep an eye our for Olympians, Winter X Games champs and other park kids braving the new Olympic-caliber, 6.7 meter superpipe in the legendary terrain park.
