Northstar at Tahoe is a relatively new addition to our featured ski resorts and is located in California on the north shore of Lake Tahoe near to Squaw Valley and Heavenly.
Northstar is now owned by Vail Resorts (who also own Heavenly) and there have been huge investments in the resort infrastructure in recent years.
The skiing at Northstar is perfect for every ability and there's a fantastic lift system plus a superb new ski-in/ski-out village with great amenities.
Northstar at Tahoe is only 45 minutes from Reno Airport and the other Lake Tahoe ski resorts are close at hand, making Northstar the ideal ski holiday destination for clients who'd like to explore and experience a multi resort itinerary.
Skiing at Northstar at Tahoe
Northstar is a perfect choice for families, thanks to it's gladed ski area ideal for intermediates and beginners.
Half of the marked trails are for intermediates and although there is plenty of terrain for both beginners and advanced skiers and riders, experts may want to look to other Lake Tahoe resorts.
The varied terrain includes long cruisers, moguls, tree skiing and a variety of freestyle terrain features for all levels of experience. The longest trail is 2.9 miles (4.7 km), and the most challenging trail—the black diamond Iron Horse—is a great challenge for intermediates. It’s long and steep but groomed.
Lookout Mountain is a recent addition with 200 extra acres (80 ha) of mainly advanced terrain with more than enough enough to challenge the gutsiest experts in your party.
