Morzine Ski Holidays
The bustling alpine town of Morzine has a fantastic atmosphere all year round, with everyone from skiers to mountain bikers flocking to enjoy the resort’s authentic French charm and incredible access to the expansive Portes du Soleil area.
Enjoy the resort
Spread across the valley floor at an altitude of 1,000m, Morzine boasts truly beautiful views. The town itself is also rather good-looking, with lots of wooden chalets, traditional stone buildings, and cosy bars and restaurants.
Only 75km from Geneva Airport and located in the very heart of the Portes du Soleil between the neighbouring resorts of Les Gets and Avoriaz, Morzine provides easy access to this vast ski area offering up to 600 km of pistes.
A traditional market village, Morzine exudes charm and authenticity whilst its many bars and restaurants provide the perfect retreat for indulging in a spot of après-ski. You'll find a range of other activities on offer too for those who still have the energy!
Skiing in Morzine
The Portes du Soleil ski area is made up of 12 resorts dotted either side of the French/Swiss border and encompasses approximately 600km of pistes, offering an abundance of terrain for skiers and snowboarders of all levels.
Thanks to its central location, Morzine is a great base for exploring the Portes du Soleil area and is well served by lifts going towards either Avoriaz or Les Gets from opposite sides of the resort (access between the two is via the resort's free petit train). Staying in Morzine means you can check where the best weather conditions are to make the most of your day on the mountain!
There are two lift pass options available for those staying in Morzine. For beginners or those looking to ski at a leisurely pace, you can choose a Morzine-Les Gets only pass which gives you access to the Pleney side of Morzine as well as the pistes at neighbouring Les Gets. The wide open area at the top of the Pleney lift is where the ski schools meet and it is a central point between Les Gets and Morzine. From here you can cruise back down gentle blue runs to the resort centre.
The Morzine and Avoriaz ski areas are both covered on the Portes du Soleil lift pass which is a great option for those wanting to explore the full potential of the ski area and access the higher slopes of Avoriaz and beyond. Morzine is linked to Avoriaz in a couple of ways: you can either choose to take the Super Morzine lift up and ski your way over to Avoriaz or you can jump on the bus to the Prodains gondola which will whisk you up to Avoriaz in minutes.
