"La Rosière is a great little resort sitting right on the French / Italian border. The San Bernardo ski area has plenty to explore: ski over to the neighbouring resort of La Thuile in Italy for a pizza and then back for a refreshing beer on the huge sun terrace at Le Comptoir!"

La Rosière Ski Holidays

In the heart of the Haute Tarentaise, La Rosière has an enviable position on the French-Italian border on the Petit St Bernard pass and is linked with the Italian resort of La Thuile.

Offering over 150km of pistes, south-facing La Rosière has a good snow record and a large selection of sunny slopes for all abilities of skiers.

The resort has two village bases, La Rosière Centre and Les Eucherts, which are approximately a 15 minute walk from one another. The old village, La Rosière Centre, is built in an attractive traditional chalet-style and offers a selection of bars, shops and restaurants. The more recently-built Les Eucherts area has been purpose-built in a traditional style and also offers a selection of amenities as well as the resort's bowling centre and ice rink. Ski lifts depart from both La Rosière Centre and Les Eucherts and there are ski school meeting points at both bases.

Skiing in La Rosière

La Rosière is a great beginner resort with dedicated slopes easily accessible at Les Eucherts and the resort centre. La Rosière's lower slopes are mainly cruisy blues and greens ideal for early intermediates.

The upper slopes below Le Roc Noir and Col de la Traversette offer steeper, interesting reds and La Thuile has some great intermediate skiing.

Expert skiers and boarders can enjoy some guided off piste terrain, or even heli-skiing just over the Italian border.

For budding freestylers, there is a small but well equipped snowpark as La Rosière is home to some promising young talent.

Après-Ski in La Rosière

La Rosière has a strong reputation as a family-friendly resort and its après ski scene is naturally on the gentler side. The tourist office normally organises family-orientated evening activities throughout the week.

There are a dozen or so bars spread around the village which are warm and welcoming. Le Comptoir in the centre of La Rosière is usually one of the livelier choices with a large terrace perfect for enjoying an après-ski drink in the sun, often with live music. The Moo Bar Night Club is open until late if you're looking for somewhere to dance the night away.

Dining in La Rosière

You'll find a number of restaurants in La Rosière offering traditional alpine favourites like fondue, raclette and tartiflette as well as international cuisine.

La Grange is one of the best choices in Les Eucherts with a slightly rustic feel and good food. L'Estam is also a popular choice for traditional fare and offers a good children's menu too. Le Genépi in the centre of the resort offers refined French food and is arguably the resort's best restaurant. L'Ancolie in Les Eucherts offers a mix of tradtional and classic dishes either on the sun terrace with a spectacular view or in a cosy chalet setting with log fire.

Activities in La Rosière

La Rosière has a good selection of activities to enjoy. Indoor facilities include a bowling alley, indoor ice rink and cinema. Out on the snow you can try snowshoeing, sledging and cross-country skiing. For thrill seekers, the X-treme luge where you can reach speeds of up to 45km/h on a 700m descent is a must!
