Traditional Alpine Resort Vicky Lavender, Marketing Manager

"Samoëns is a very pretty French village with lots of restaurants, bars and shops on offer, much more than your average ski resort. It is a great base from which to explore the huge Grand Massif ski area and the short transfer from Geneva as well as the stunning self-catered apartments are making it a very popular choice with families."

Activities in Samoens

You can sign up for relaxing experiences such as a heritage tour of the village or wine tasting, something slightly more energetic like dog sledding or snow-shoeing or have a full-on adrenaline rush paragliding or speed riding – descending the slopes with a small parasail attached to your back. Sledging, ice climbing and snowmobiing are also available as well as pony or horse riding (conditions permitting) available for even very young children.

In the village there's a cinema, ice rink, library and bowling. Something not to miss is the Wednesday morning market for those who want to sample the local meats and cheeses. Samoëns offers cross country skiing and 'le skating' at Col de Joux Plane, only 30 kms from the village, accessible by a regular shuttle bus.
