Childcare in Les Arcs
Les Arcs is an incredibly popular destination for a family ski holiday and offers superb terrain for kids and learners, plus some excellent child care facilities in the various resort bases.
Le Village at Arc 1950 has arguably the best childcare facilities of all the Les Arcs resort bases. The streets here are pedestrianised and normally snow covered and there are two nursery slopes. The kids club in Arc 1950 (Cariboo Club) is located in the village centre and works in tandem with the Spirit 1950 ski school for older kids too. P'tit Cariboo offers childcare for children aged 9 months to under 3 years with a selection of both indoor and outdoor (non-skiing) activities. The Cariboo Club for children aged 3 to12 years offers a range of activities including tobogganing, snow shoe excursions, mini-olympics and snow hockey and can be combined with ski lessons with Spirit 1950 if you wish. Full or half day options with or without lunches are available for all childcare options.
In Arc 1800 the ESF run a Mini Club for children aged 3 to 8 years old. The Mini Club involves ski-based childcare with ski lessons aiming to get children started in a fun and safe environment. Then after the ski activity children can go into daycare with sledging, walks, face-painting and other activities. Full or half day options with or without lunches are available. There is a specially adapted "ski garden" for 3 & 4 year olds to take their first steps on skis in with children aged 5 and above able to join regular group ski lessons.
At the highest resort base, Arc 2000, there's a child care centre (Garderie 2000) next to the ice rink that takes children from 12 months to 8 years old. Guests in Arc 2000 can also use the Cariboo Club in Arc 1950 as it can easily be reached by cable car. Children aged 3 and above can join ESF group lessons in their specially adapted snow garden.
There's also the option of private nannies and a number of companies operate in the area using English-speaking staff. Please contact us on 0131 243 8097 for details.
As with all childcare in the Alps, places can be limited and we'd recommend booking as early as possible, especially for busy holiday periods.
Don't forget there is a free specially adapted area for very young kids at the Mille8 development above Arc 1800 where they can play safely - features include a sledging area with magic carpet and igloos.
