There’s a lot to celebrate in winter 2015/16, with daily news of superb snowfall and conditions in all our featured resorts. Not only is the snow about as good as it could be, but there are plenty of new developments, innovations and skier friendly offers around too. Here’s a short guide to some of the best ski resort news and updates for this season.
Jackson Hole is 50
Winter 2015/16 marks Jackson Hole‘s 50th anniversary. To celebrate, a brand new lift – the Teton Lift – has been installed and it opens up 200 new acres of terrain on the upper mountain. The resort has produced a series of retrospective videos in celebration of this legendary ski resort too. Here’s Episode 1:

Insider’s Guide to St. Moritz
I’m one of the reservations team here at Ski Independence and we’re lucky to be able to visit the resorts and properties we offer to ensure we have first-hand knowledge and experience to pass on to our clients. I visited St Moritz in April 2014 and thought I’d write a little insider’s guide to let you know what I thought about the resort and the two different ski areas.

Swiss paradise – brought to you by…The English?
Don’t get me wrong, I love living north of the border, but along with whisky drinking, caber tossing and ceilidh dancing, England-bashing is somewhat of a national pastime. So imagine my glee at arriving in St Moritz, where the locals have a real soft spot for anyone English. After all, it is the English (and local hotel owner and wily businessman, Johannes Badrutt) that are credited with bringing winter tourism to the area. The story goes that Mr. Badrutt invited a small party of English people to stay at his hotel (now Hotel Kulm) during the winter – the deal was that if they liked it, they could stay as long as they wanted. If not he’d pay for all their travel expenses. They arrived in December, greeted by Mr. Badrutt on a glorious sunny day and stayed til Easter! Read the rest of this entry »
