Late season skiing – it’s still falling!

The Team May 16th, 2011

Normally at this time of year, resorts’ Facebook feeds are full of mountain biking, spring walks and mountain flowers – however, this year seems to be different.

When I looked this morning at the Ski Independence Facebook news feed, it was awash with video, photos and comments on the current fantastic spring skiing conditions. Here are just a few: Read the rest of this entry »

Self help & skiing?! Really??

The Team March 11th, 2011

Last week I had the unique opportunity to participate in the Diva Ski Week in Aspen Snowmass. Contrary to what it sounds, it’s not a week of ladies having “diva” moments on the slopes but in fact a woman’s only ski camp which combines on-hill instruction by the Aspen Team Diva and off-hill life coaching based around the Birkman Method. The aim of the Diva Ski Week is to get to the bottom of what allows each participant to perform at her best, whether she is facing a hike up Highland’s Bowl for the first time or taking on a new challenge at work….

Prior to departing the UK I received an email requesting me to fill a 30 minute survey and was assured that it was a survey of my opinions and there are no right or wrong answers… I have always been rather skeptical of life coaching and have always grouped it in the same bracket as wishy-washy self help books. Surely by answering a question one way, it means you’re totally normal and on the road to success but answering it another way, well that will almost certainly mean you need immediate help otherwise you’re doomed for a life of misery and loneliness… However at least maybe Aspen will be a nice place to find out that out!

So, after completing the survey and having no idea how questions such as “What would I prefer to be a) a forester b) an accountant c) an office clerk d) an engineer would l help me ski better, I pressed “send”…

Aspen Snowmass – Best Opening Weeks In History

The Team December 2nd, 2010

This has been one of the best opening weeks in Aspen’s history as they were well above average snowfall for the month of November.

They’ve received over a foot of snow within the past week and more is on the way. Click here to view the opening weekend video highlights the Visa Aspen Winternational races, the Bud Light Hi-Fi Concert Series featuring Blind Melon and fireworks over Aspen Mountain.

They’re just giving it away in Aspen Snowmass!

Nick October 1st, 2010

We had the international sales team in from Aspen Snowmass this week to update our reservations team on what’s new in the resort for winter 2010/11. Something that really struck a chord with us all was the huge amount of complimentary services and value-adds that our clients receive as part of a Ski Independence holiday to Aspen Snowmass.

Here’s a few of the great extra benefits you can take advantage of this winter:

If you’re flying into Aspen airport, then most properties offer a complimentary airport-to-resort transfer. Several of our lodging partners offer free daily breakfast. The Sky Hotel has a complimentary nightly manager’s apres-ski reception in the lobby, whilst The Gant offers free transportation around town – they’ll even take you to the shops, or pick you up from the bars. Some hotels even offer complimentary access to a local health club. Read the rest of this entry »
