Late season skiing – it’s still falling!

The Team May 16th, 2011

Normally at this time of year, resorts’ Facebook feeds are full of mountain biking, spring walks and mountain flowers – however, this year seems to be different.

When I looked this morning at the Ski Independence Facebook news feed, it was awash with video, photos and comments on the current fantastic spring skiing conditions. Here are just a few:

Whistler Blackcomb – Bluebird skiing on Blackcomb in Whistler – looks superb:

Mammoth Mountain – May-bruary? 4″-8″ overnight. Almost 54 FEET this “winter”. We’re open daily until July 4, the longest season of any resort in the US: winter 10-11 is 255 days!

Spring skiing in Mammoth Mountain – 15th May 2011

Squaw Valley USA – Looking like about 4″ down below and more like 6-7″ up top with pockets of deeper stuff. Working to get KT open on time, and upper mountain will start on a hold due to wind… getting gusts upwards of 40 mph up there. POWDER DAY!!!

Aspen/Snowmass – Whipping around in a heli with our friends from Brain Farm Cinema shooting for “Art of Flight”. The movie is going to blow your mind. -Dave

Visit Tirol – Who said winter is over? 30cm+ fresh on Stubai glacier and more of the same at Hintertux over the weekend!!
