Luxury and Innovation in St Moritz
Synonymous with old school glamour and historic mountain luxury, St Moritz conjures up images of fur coats, dinner jackets and cigar rooms. After enjoying a long weekend at the iconic 5* Badrutt’s Palace, I realised it was all these things but also much, much more.
After a quick transfer through Zurich Airport and onto the incredibly efficient Swiss Rail network, I settled in for a beautiful journey to St Moritz. Classic Swiss mountain vistas appear at the window only 20 minutes after leaving Zurich and these continue all the way for 3 hours 40 minutes. They say the best things in life take time…

Jackson Hole is 50
Winter 2015/16 marks Jackson Hole‘s 50th anniversary. To celebrate, a brand new lift – the Teton Lift – has been installed and it opens up 200 new acres of terrain on the upper mountain. “Last autumn I entered a competition to win a short skiing break and was lucky enough to win a 3 nights in St Moritz at the Nira Alpina Hotel. All the planning was done by Ski Independence and we flew on Saturday 22nd of Feb from Manchester to Zurich, a just-long-enough 1.45 min flight! From landing in Zurich it was Swiss Rail to St Moritz, 2 changes, a short taxi ride and 4 hours later we were at the hotel for about 2100hrs.
