My first experience of Skiing was at La Thuile in Italy on a school trip. Despite having just completed a 48 hour ferry and bus journey to get there, I was hooked from that first morning of lessons. The following few ski trips involved trying to ‘one up’ my big brother, which usually included some form of injury whilst attempting to keep up.

I moved to Edinburgh in 2014 to study Business & Marketing at university, and after completing my degree found my dream role as a Marketing Executive within the Ski Independence team.

Interesting Fact

Not a fact as such, but don’t trust me with a piste map. My map reading skills once led to a 2 hour hike through a forest in ski boots, with aid coming in the form of a tram who stopped halfway up the mountain. In my defence it was a whiteout, but that’s a story for another day.

What Inspires You?

Shetland – and by Shetland I don’t mean the TV programme, I mean the place. It’s where I grew up, and whilst I didn’t appreciate it when living there, I definitely appreciate it having moved away. My favourite place is a small secluded tombolo called Uyea. When the sun shines, there’s no better place on earth.

What’s your favourite resort, and why?

Chamonix was a ski trip I’ll always remember. We had some great powder days, and raced down the Kandahar at least 12 times over the week. Let’s not forget the in chalet chef who had freshly baked cakes waiting for our return after a day on the slopes.

My next trip:

My next trip away will be on honeymoon! As exciting as it is, neither of us can decide where to visit.
