Skier or snowboarder:
At age 10 I was hauled up a very wet and windy mountain in the Scottish Cairngorms where a great instructor and litres of hot chocolate got me hooked on skiing. After my first trip to the French Alps which offered great snow and sunshine, I knew this was going to become my favourite type of holiday! Since then I have been skiing in Europe each year and after studying Geography at University I have managed to combine something I love with a great job.
As part of their long list of eco-credentials all used wine corks from the bar served in the Limelight in Aspen go on to be recycled into cork sandals through ReCork.
What inspires you?
I love exploring new places and discovering new things however being in the mountains is where I feel most at home. There is nothing like standing at 3,000m with peaks below you, a clear blue sky and mountains as far as you can see.
What's your favourite resort, and why?
Val Thorens ticks so many boxes for me. With access to the huge Three Valleys you can be skiing classic high alpine within 25 minutes of leaving your hotel or you can spend the day skiing over to the gentle tree lined slopes in Courchevel, there is something for all levels. In addition to great skiing VT now has a number of 5-star hotels, a great range of restaurants and plenty of family activities including the longest toboggan run in France. For those in need of refreshment at the end of the day La Folie Douce sits above the resort in a sunny spot looking over the resort, after which you can find anything from casual pizza to Michelin-star dining.
My next trip:
Having visited Aspen Snowmass in summer I’m desperate to get back out there with a pair of ski’s in tow. It is such a vibrant town with bags of character and the mountains look amazing! There is such a wide variety of terrain that we can challenge ourselves when feeling energetic and also take it easy after a night in Belly Up enjoying some live music.
