Activities in Telluride
Dog Sledding
Travel at the speed of dog through the stunning San Juan mountain range. This is a fun adventure for all the family. There are half day and full day tours available.
Horse Riding
There is nothing quite like galloping through the winter wilderness on horse ride. There are a number of companies in Telluride offering winter horseback riding, from 1 hour to full day trips. Please contact the Concierge for more details.
Ice Climbing
Climbing a frozen waterfall is a sublime experience. There is perhaps no other discipline of alpinism that offers such a satisfying feeling as sinking your crampons and ice tools into a vertical pillar of ice.
Sleigh Ride Dinners
On Friday and Saturday nights you can take part in a wonderful outing. You are met by a snowcat-drawn sleigh in which you will be taken to the Gorrono Ranch for a traditional Colorado meal, under the starry sky.
Snowmobiling
Dave’s Mountain Tours operate in the Uncompahgre National Forest, and here they have the sole use of 80miles if trails in Beaver Park (18 miles) from Telluride. This area has amazing scenery and paranoramic vistas. There are a variety of tours from 2 hours to full day tours. You will be picked up and dropped back at your accommodation. Please wear ski gear. 16 years and under must ride double behind an adult.
Snowshoeing
Telluride offers snowshoeing tours at 10am everyday departing from the Mountain Village Activity Center. You will then trek for 2 – 3 hours through the forest and learn about Telluride’s environment. In addition, there are 10km of groomed runs through the forest and meadows, where you will have wonderful views of Telluride and the surrounding area
Winter Fly Fishing
Winter fly fishing in Telluride is one of the best-kept secrets in Colorado. Everyone needs a day off from the slopes, and you'll find excellent winter fly fishing on both the Uncompahgre and San Miguel Rivers. There are guides available every day during the winter, with quality public water and tremendous private water alternatives. Top quality rental equipment is available, so don't worry about packing for two sports.
