Les Deux Alpes Ski Holiday Guide

Located in the Southern Alps, Les Deux Alpes is renowned for an excellent snow record, high altitude pistes and hours of sunshine. Geared towards all standards of skier, it provides everything from nursery slopes for first timers to tricky black descents for pros.

The resort itself offers a multitude of bars, cafés, restaurants, shops and nightlife spread along its 2 main streets. All of our accommodation is conveniently located near to the lifts and village centre.

Les 2 Alpes is an excellent choice for individuals, families and groups looking for a fun atmosphere and excellent skiing.

Skiing in Les Deux Alpes

High up in a narrow valley above the Lac Du Chambon sits the sprawling town of Les Deux Alpes. The resort base is 1,650m but take 5 lifts, 2,300 vertical metres and three valleys and you are at the top of the highest skiable glacier in France, the Dôme de la Lauze (3,568m).

The skiing doesn't end there though as you can catch a ride behind a snowcat, water-ski-style over the Glacier de la Girose to the Vallons de la Meije, and the hallowed couloirs above La Grave. Along the way, Les Deux Alpes has some mighty off-piste, one of the largest and most impressive snow parks in Europe, reliable snow on the upper mountain, stunning high-mountain views and an ever-improving lift network.

With approximately 200km of piste the resort is well catered for all types of skier.

The resort is sometimes called ‘upside-down’ due to the higher reaches of the ski are tending to be flatter than those coming back into the village. Saying that there is a great array of beginner’s areas near the village. Furthermore there is a roped off beginner’s area at Cretes and some wide blue runs to progress onto here. Intermediates will love the veritable blue/red playground up and around the glacier. In addition expansive opportunities exist with a six-day ski pass which gives you a day’s skiing in both Alpe d'Huez and Serre Chevalier.
